The 8 x AES/EBU Access Module is a new high-density plug-in unit for the Nimbra One/300 series multiservice switches, enabling digital audio transport with guaranteed quality of service in studio, contribution and distribution networks.

The module allows audio channels to the AES3 standard, at any of the standard sample rates, to be transported in bandwidth tailored and secured logical channels. Due to the unique timing properties of a Nimbra network it is possible to keep the buffering delay at the output to a minimum, which provides for a very low latency of the signal. A jitter-free output signal is presented without the need for external synchronization.

The transport is fully transparent to all bits of the AES3-2003 blocks, frames and sub-frames. This means that alternative formats are also supported, such as Dolby-E.

    • The Nimbra One multiservice switch supports up to six 8-port AES/EBU access modules, resulting in a total of 48 digital audio streams that can be switched locally in a studio or to any other location in the network.

    Fitted in a Nimbra 340 multiservice access device, up to 8 digital audio streams may be multiplexed with ASI and Gigabit Ethernet services over E3/DS3, STM-1, -4 or -16 trunk interfaces.
