On site in Amsterdam, live uncompressed, SDI TV camera feeds in the EBU Village and the IRT booth will be connected to IRT´s main studio in Munich. At the EBU village and the IRT booth, visitors will be able to experience the resulting real-time SDI TV pictures produced in Munich. The demonstration can also be viewed in the Carrier1/ProStream booth.
Demonstrating different qualities of real-time video
Live transmission will include uncompressed studio-quality SDI 270 Mbps, professional quality compressed video (MPEG-2 4:2:2 profile@ML), DVB/ASI over IP and, and PC-based IP-streaming with 300Kbps up to 2 Mbps. The demonstration will clearly illustrate the differences in quality and delay.
Alongside the streaming applications, ordinary data transmission, including fast file transfer, will be done via Internet and extranet connections, all in Carrier1´s multi-media network.
The networked production, live streaming and other services set up and operated by IRT will use the ProStream Video Network Services run over Carrier1´s optical network, connecting 13 countries and the major cities of Europe. Carrier1´s ProStream network is using a multi-service platform from Net Insight, based on the newly standardised networking transmission technology DTM (Dynamic synchronous Transfer Mode), carrying video, data and telephony in undisturbed channels, long-distance in real-time. TANDBERG Television will supply MPEG equipment to distribute high quality, compressed video in real-time.
