Stockholm, December 17, 2001 – Net Insight (SX: NETI B), a leading provider of real-time broadband infrastructure technology receives an initial order for its Nimbra platform from US-based service provider Qmedia, specialized in network services targeting companies in the professional media industry.
The order is valued at slightly more than 10 million SEK and includes network equipment for the first leg in the build-out of Qmedia’s North American media network.
“The fact that Qmedia has chosen our networking products for their North American media network constitutes a major breakthrough for Net Insight”, says Tomas Duffy, CEO of Net Insight.
As previously reported, Qmedia has since the summer been carrying out tests and verifying Net Insight network equipment. Based on the successful tests with leading American broadcasters Qmedia has now decided to continue a three-city rollout to
New York, Washington and Los Angeles for commercial traffic.
“The tests have been successful and we are very impressed by the advantages to be gained from this technology. The rollout to New York, Washington and Los Angeles constitutes a first leg in our efforts to build a nationwide network and implies that we immediately can satisfy the needs from our media production and distribution customers. Net Insight’s solution will now assist us in providing data and video services with superior quality and at significantly lower cost than traditional technologies", says Russ Hamm, CEO of Qmedia.
