UPC order video transport solution from Net Insight

15 September, 2002
UPC, a leading European Cable-TV Operator, orders video transport equipment from Net Insight, a leading provider of real-time broadband. The order is taken by Net Insight´s Dutch distribution partner, Alphatron. The equipment will be used for video and data transport between Amsterdam and Vienna.
UPC, one of Europe´s largest users of video transport solutions, will now start to use Net Insights equipment to transport multiple ASI video streams and Ethernet from UPC´s media play out in Amsterdam to a satellite uplink station in Vienna, via an STM-1 (155 Mbps) trunk connection.

- We have compared Net Insight´s solution with many other solutions including ATM-based solutions and we have found Net Insight´s solution to be significantly more efficient, both technically and economically, says Jon Try, Director of Engineering at UPC.

- The order from UPC confirms that we have a very competitive, state-of-the-art solution for video content distribution. Our solution can deliver video content from any where to any one in full
quality. This enables the industry to save cost and reduces the number of play outs, Tomas Duffy, CEO at Net Insight.

- Net Insight is the only vendor that can provide truly cost efficient solutions for broadcast quality transport of IP, Ethernet, SDI, SDTI, and ASI. We see a great potential for Net Insights solutions within the cable-TV and broadcasting industry, says Karel Suers at Alphatron Broadcast Electronics BV.
