Stockholm, December 22, 2004 – Net Insight (SX: NETI B), a leading provider of video, voice and data networking equipment, announced that one of the major US broadcasters has chosen Net Insight’s Nimbra platform for its new terrestrial transatlantic network solution between its centers in New York and London.
Formerly having relied on separate services such as satellite capacity and narrow band connections for data and voice, the broadcaster will now have their own multi service broadband network. The network will be built fully redundant and carry mission critical real-time news program streams over DVB-ASI, data over Ethernet and provide PBX connectivity via T1 services.
By switching from a satellite based network to a terrestrial network the quality of sending real-time video will improve at the same time as the transmission delay is minimized to almost zero. This new network will bring the broadcaster a flexible solution enabling them to run all their required services over the same platform and at the same time. The high utilization of the network combined with the simplicity in operations will also lower the customer´s total operational costs significantly.
“Net Insight is proud to receive this order from a major US broadcaster. With their choice of Net Insight as a supplier we further state our position as technology leader for terrestrial media networks, says Tomas Duffy, CEO of Net Insight. “
