Versatel, a leading European telecom operator together with NOB, a Dutch broadcasting facilities company, have now deployed a new national multi service media contribution network based on Net Insight´s Nimbra platform. The network connects all major Dutch football arenas for live sports coverage contributing to Versatel’s triple play service offering.
A key feature for Versatel was the ability to transport all types of voice, data and video services with guaranteed quality of service and maximum network utilization. The network is built for simultaneous transport of SDI, ASI, Ethernet and VoIP streams and is used for transport of sports contribution from the Dutch Premiere League football.
The network collects services from a total of 18 football stadiums and carries the feeds to NOB’s Master Control Room in Hilversum. As a facilitator to Versatel, NOB designed the concept and will do the handling of the traffic on the Versatel network.The high demands on the reliability and multiservices has leaded Versatel to their choice of Net Insight’s Nimbra platform.
In collaboration with Net Insight’s partner Alphatron Broadcast Solutions the network has been successfully delivered during the second quarter of 2005.
