At IBC 2007, Net Insight demonstrated the worlds’ first multicast of uncompressed 4K video streams over a public multiservice network. The demonstration was realized over Net Insight’s high-capacity Nimbra switches in TeliaSonera’s European media network and Astrodesign’s super high-resolution 4K2K LCD displays.
4K is a new video technology considered for, amongst other things, digital cinema. A 4K display has a resolution four times higher compared to a full HD display and the uncompressed 4K signal (6 Gbps) requires fully error-free end-to-end transport.
