As the best alpine skiers are gathered in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany for the 2011 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships running February 8-20, Net Insight is delivering its high quality video transport solution to key global media operators and major rights holders, for HD broadcast as well as AES-EBU for audio.
With the viewers' requirements of perfect coverage of the competition SRG SSR, the Swiss Broadcasting Corporation relies on the Nimbra solution for its contribution feeds from Garmisch to Zurich. The German public broadcaster ZDF in cooperation with Net Insight's partner Controlware, use the Nimbra solution for contribution to ZDF's headquarters in Mainz. Furthermore, the Swedish broadcaster TV4 uses Net Insight's platform for contribution services. And as always from large sport events EBU uses its Nimbra-based Eurovision fibre network for secure and high quality distribution to its wide network of TV broadcasters around the world.
High consumer demand for high-quality HD content from live events
The proliferation of new broadcast technologies, such as HDTV, 3DTV, mobile phone and PC viewing introduces opportunities of new revenue streams for sports rights holders. Consumer demand for high-quality HD content from live events is increasing and requires 100% QoS, 100% of the time.
