Net Insight AB and ChordNet Systems AB have signed a letter of intent regarding a co-operation that includes a joint product offering aimed at meeting the tremendous growth in bandwidth demands caused by the Internet revolution and the increased use of data and video applications. The novel electronic switching products developed by Net Insight combined with the optical networking products designed by ChordNet constitute a very competitive solution for city and regional networks.
ChordNet´s optical DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing) networking products enable the transmission of multiple optical channels over a single fiber and feature efficient routing of high capacity, protocol independent channels, as well as fast autonomous network protection. With DWDM systems operators can boost the capacity of their networks (more than 100 times) without having to install new fiber infrastructure. Net Insight´s DTM technology is based on a powerful and flexible multiplexing and switching concept that facilitate very efficient dynamic bandwidth utilization and high quality of service, which are of fundamental importance for the evolution of IP transport. The combination of DWDM and DTM offer a unique competitive advantage for an operator to enhance capacity and scalability of their network in a modular way.
The intention is to provide both companies with state of the art communication technology that will optimize the network in terms of cost efficiency and dynamic bandwidth utilization. This will allow ChordNet and Net Insight to penetrate the market with competitive flexible solutions for the transportation of high-speed integrated real time services (data, voice and video). Over the next five year period the increased number of Internet users and the evolution of new data and real time video applications over Internet is expected to increase the need for bandwidth in the order of more than 25 times. This co-operation aims to realize the full potential of the fiber and to fill the gap between IP and the optical layer. Together DWDM and DTM offer a scalable, flexible and reliable IP networking solution for city and regional networks that contribute a breakthrough in the industry.
