Stockholm, August 20, 2002 – ABC Television, one of USA’s leading broadcasters, has signed a service agreement with Qmedia for video and data capacity delivered over a platform from Net Insight (SX: NETI B), a leading provider of real-time broadband infrastructure technology.
The agreement follows a successful trial period, initiated in June.
ABC thereby joins MSNBC and uses Qmedia’s media network for news production. Today, the network connects Washington and New York.
”We are seeing the market develop rapidly and continue to see a growing interest for our services as we formalize our customer partnerships, like ABC”, says Russ Hamm, Founder and CEO, Qmedia.
The network connects ABC’s News Bureau in Washington DC with a main studio on Manhattan in New York. Under the agreement, Qmedia will deliver capacity for an IP based news application from Path Fire and transport of digital video streams.
“With ABC and MSNBC as end users of our technology, the future looks bright. Operators and media companies are showing great interest for this type of services, and we expect to take part in further build-out of the network to other American cities”, says Tomas Duffy, CEO, Net Insight.
