Stockholm, June 27, 2002 - Hewlett-Packard and Net Insight (SX: NETI B), a leading provider of real-time broadband infrastructure technology, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to form a strategic alliance on the broadband market.
The agreement defines both parties´ intention to jointly market and resell end-to-end solutions for optical metro networks and broadband access in Sweden, with aim for the global market. Under the agreement HP will also contribute with server systems, integration and support services.
Under the scope of the agreement, HP and Net Insight intend to resell and deliver end-to-end solutions for metro and access networks. Besides broadband access and cable TV solutions for residential area networks, the companies will jointly offer network solutions for demanding enterprise applications such as VPN services, Internet wireless roaming, telephony and high-quality video conferencing.
The end-to-end concept is based on Net Insight´s platform for smart backbones, combined with server technology, access units and management system from HP. Also HP´s support and systems integration services are bundled in the offering.
"This partnership is unique. Hewlett-Packard is world leading within systems integration and management software, and our platform guarantees high service quality to a cost that others can´t match. No other vendor can deliver an equally complete and competitive end-to-end solution", says Tomas Duffy, CEO, Net Insight.
According to the memorandum, both companies will resell the concept, and HP will deliver and integrate the solutions. Initially, reselling will be made through direct sales, but HP´s sales channels will be used as official resellers as well. The concept includes hardware from both companies, but HP will also provide software for network management and applications for user administration. For operators wanting to outsource some of their operations, HP will supply optional services within support, operation and administration.
"The metro network market is very interesting for HP, and we clearly see that all types of real-time traffic and TV/video becomes ever more important for both companies and home-users. With Net Insight´s platform we can deliver fully integrated and future proof networks that provide well defined added value, meaning that we can create new business opportunities for our customers", says RoseMarie Lessnert, Business Development Manager, Hewlett-Packard Sweden.
