The 10GE Trunk Module enables cost-efficient media transport over high capacity IP infrastructure with guaranteed Quality of Service and end-to-end performance management.
The 10GE Trunk Module supports Net Insight’s service-centric network management concept. Services are setup, managed, and monitored without any need for advanced IP traffic engineering or any interaction with the IP service provider. New services are provisioned end-to-end without affecting any ongoing transmissions and independently of the IP core network.
The 10GE Trunk Module is provisioned at setup only and can allocate trunk bandwidth from 1 Gbps to the full link capacity (10 Gbps) in steps of 0.5 Mbps, for transport of any mix of video, audio and IP services.
- 2 ports for link diversity and aggregation. The module is equipped with 2 independent SFP+ ports for 10GE SFPs.
- Bandwidth granularity. The IP/Ethernet trunk bandwidth may be defined in steps of 0.5 Mbps to allow for cost-effective resource utilization.
- Enhanced QoS. FEC (Forward Error Correction) buffers and advanced play-out functions are implemented to minimize potential Quality of Service degradations caused by the underlying packet network.
- Full multiservice support. The IP/Ethernet interface may carry any service supported by the Nimbra 600 MSR platform.
- Any topology. The module supports any network topology such as point-to-point, rings and mesh.
- Advanced clock recovery. Automatic clock recovery circuitry that adapts to packet network jitter/wander levels, with automatic fallback to local or external reference.
- Carrier class. The Nimbra 600 series is designed to meet the NEBS level 3 specifications for trouble-free operation in a carrier environment.
- Performance monitoring. Real-time monitoring of IP/Ethernet connectivity based on UDP and Ethernet physical parameters, as well as timing/sync parameters.
- Ease of handling. Supports remote upgrades and in-service swapping of the module for high availability. Management options include built-in element management through CLI and Web GUI, as well as Nimbra Vision™ network management.
The combination of service re-routing capability and the ability to transport media services over both IP and optical links makes the Nimbra platform a unique solution for converging media services and traditional data services onto a single network infrastructure.
