The ASI/AES Access Module can be configured to transport either DVB-ASI, AES/EBU audio signals or MADI streams.
In ASI transport mode, the module enables digital multimedia transport with guaranteed Quality of Service in studio, contribution and distribution networks. The module features a unique bandwidth preservation mechanism to keep the network overhead to a minimum for optimal use of network resources.
In AES/EBU mode, the module can transport up to eight AES/EBU audio signals. All standard sample rates are supported and the transport is fully transparent to all bits contained in AES3-2003 blocks, frames and sub-frames to provide support for alternative/compressed formats.
When configured for MADI transport, the module provides transparent transport of up to seven MADI streams, each including up to 64 AES channels.
Each port on the board can be independently configured as input, output or monitor. A port configured for monitoring can monitor any other port on the module. The architecture of the Nimbra system allows you to transmit and/or receive ASI video, AES/EBU audio channels or MADI streams with extremely low latency. The system’s jitter-free output signal eliminates the need for external synchronizers.
