Net Insight, a world leader in DTM networking equipment, is developing a DTM-chip called Twintin, which integrates full DTM switch functionality on a single, cascadable, 8-port chip. Cadence will utilize its design expertise of its world wide design services network to assist both Net Insight and other systems companies, which are licensed suppliers of Twintin, with the development of innovative networking products based upon the unique DTM network protocol.
Net Insight intends to offer Twintin separately on a license basis to suppliers worldwide in order to promote DTM development and to accelerate the international standardization of DTM technology. The DTM technology permits the integration of voice, data and streaming video traffic in a single network with greatly increased capacity and quality while reducing capital and operating cost significantly.
"Aligning with Cadence will enable companies to fulfill their business strategy without having to architect, build, and maintain a DTM design environment in house," said Al Strelzoff, vice president and general manager of the Datacom/Telecom design group at Cadence. "This new way of doing business establishes Cadence as a strategic resource for Net Insight with both parties working closely together to meet tangible business objectives."
Net Insight´s own business concept is to develop solutions for integrated voice, video, and data over fiber, based on DTM technology and related products. The company will market its own chip-based networking products. Net Insight´s DTM products create new business opportunities for IT and telecommunications companies worldwide. The first effort between the companies is the development of a videomodule (270 Mbps Studio Quality Video) for Net Insight´s network switch, Nimbra One.
