"Net Insight´s new product line is a major breakthrough for large groups of end users to take advantage of broadband services with the quality of service which only DTM provides", says Bengt Olsson, CEO of Net Insight.
The Nimbra 200-series is Net Insight´s second product generation. It is designed to meet the needs of Metropolitan Multi-Service Network Operators, local and regional carriers, cable TV companies and next generation mobile operators. With its excellent Quality of Service (QoS) capabilities, wire-speed performance and very simple operation, the Nimbra 200-series is also the ideal platform for service providers who need to meet rapidly growing demands for residential services.
Operators can use the Nimbra 200 series to very cost-efficiently deliver real-time services with 100% guaranteed quality, constant latency, no jitter and dedicated bandwidth on-demand, and thus to quickly gain share in the market for real-time services (estimated at 4 billion USD in 2002). End users benefit from new services such as IP-based Digital Television, Video-on-Demand, Voice-over-IP, Games and Programs as well as true high-speed Internet Access.
Key features include:
- Unparalleled QoS capabilities which enable real-time video services
- L3/L4 routing for IP traffic
- Exceptional reliability and availability - meeting the requirements of strict Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
- Support for multiple services like legacy voice (E1/T1), data (Ethernet 10/100) and distribution video (DVB)
- Seamless integration with Net Insight´s Nimbra One core platform, the foundation for carrier-class city networks
The Nimbra-200 family is the world´s first based on a single DTM switching ASIC (Net Insight´s TwintinTM, capable of carrying non-buffered traffic flows of 16 Gbps per chip). The family includes:
Nimbra 210
Tailored for the residential broadband market, the Nimbra 210 allows operators to offer end users individual SLAs for Internet access, and new services such as games, programs and video (according to the 6Mbps MPEG-2/DVB standard). End users have standard 10/100 Ethernet connections, and the Nimbra 210 separates these on different level of service channels.

Nimbra 220
A multi-service access device suitable for enterprise access as well as next generation (GPRS and UMTS) mobile networks, the Nimbra 220 offers access and transport of E1/T1 voice services and data services up to 2 x 10/100 Mbps.
