"Powerful combination"
ABB chooses Net Insight as new partner

9 August, 1999
Net Insight AB and ABB Communications AB have signed a partnership agreement concerning the sales and implementation of Net Insight´s communications solutions to ABB´s city network customers.
ABB Communications will sell and install Net Insight´s DTM (Dynamic synchronous Transfer Mode) equipment and provide customer service and support to city network operators/power companies and larger corporate customers. ABB Communications enjoys full use of ABB´s worldwide contacts, but will initially concentrate on the Nordic region and Europe.

"Net Insight´s DTM technology offers a simple way to cost effectively build high quality, high capacity city networks. Combined with ABB´s communications expertise and our relationships with city network operators and larger corporations, this will be a very strong offering " says Björn Medin, CEO ABB Communications AB.

Net Insight´s communications solutions are built on DTM technology. DTM networks can be built and maintained with a minimum of effort, and are highly scaleable. This makes them very well-suited to the rapidly growing city network market, where the need for capacity is increasing all the time. For city network operators and power companies, this means that they can offer their customers a network with high capacity and high quality services.

"In Sweden and in many countries, power companies have already built fiber networks and, as a result of the deregulation of energy distribution, they are looking for new services to offer their customers. We chose to work with ABB because of its strong presence in the energy market, and its demonstrated focus and determination to become a leading city network supplier", says Bengt Olsson, CEO Net Insight AB.

With this agreement Net Insight will cover a new part of the city network market in its mission to establish itself as a leading vendor for city networks. Net Insight has previously signed collaboration agreements with Fiberdata and Cygate, as well as with broadband operators Bredbandsbolaget and TeleCyber, all active on the city network market. In the next few months, Net Insight will redouble its effort to establish its products on the market for city networks in the U.S.
