Net Insight Delivers Triple-Play Solution with 100% Quality of Service to IOCs and xDSL Providers

Reduce CAPEX and OPEX with an emphasis on new video-related services.
STOCKHOLM — December 9, 2002— Net Insight (SX: NET I B), developer of data and real-time video networking equipment, introduces its triple play solution to assist the xDSL providers and independent operating companies (IOCs) to deliver voice, video and data at competitive prices. By combining 100% QoS with maximum network utilization and multicast, Net Insight provides a network with superior efficiency. As a result, these emerging providers benefit from significantly reduced CAPEX and OPEX, which protect and enhance their existing infrastructure investment, while providing the ability to launch new TV and video related services.

“New market opportunities for broadband services, such as IP-video, Video-on-Demand, streaming media and interactive gaming, all require networks to perform at the highest possible efficiency. Net Insight´s introduction of the Nimbra product line significantly raises the bar for improving the efficiency of IP networks being used to deliver video,” said Gerry Kaufhold, Principal Analyst with In-Stat/MDR, based in Scottsdale, Arizona. “Service providers are looking for low-cost networking equipment that they can use instantly with their legacy equipment, such as ATM or SONET. Net Insight´s approach, already proven by major TV networks, provides an excellent bridge to the IP-oriented future. We expect the market for IP video distribution equipment to grow dramatically over the next years.”

A Triple Play Solution for Today
Net Insight has experienced continued success in the media industry by offering reliable video transport without sacrificing bandwidth to customers like ABC and MSNBC. Net Insight has accomplished this with their Nimbra switching platform and standardized broadband technology that can route any type of traffic over a separate channel, which helps minimize jitter, packet loss and traffic delays. The company is taking this expertise and offering a solution now to the xDSL providers and IOCs that are looking for cost effective ways to enter the burgeoning video market.

One of the first customers for Net Insight’s triple-play solution is Midwest Tel Net, a consortium of independent operating companies (IOCs). Net Insight’s equipment is installed and will be used to build-out a network to deliver triple play services like IPTV, Internet access and telephony, which will link together a number of rural communities in southern Wisconsin. Subscribers will benefit from more than 120 TV channels and fast Internet access that they will access via ADSL, using their existing copper wires.

“Providers are coming to us seeking a solution that they can deploy today without significant changes to their existing network,” said Tomas Duffy, CEO at Net Insight. “Net Insight is at an advantage because our solution works and is cost-effective, and our quality has been proven by ABC and MSNBC both of, which require streaming broadcast-quality video around the clock.”
