Net Insight delivers video network build-out to UPC

6 November, 2002
Stockholm, November 6, 2002 – UPC, a leading European cable-TV operator, continues the build-out of a fiber-based video transport network by placing an order for additional equipment from Net Insight (SX: NETI B), a leading provider of real-time broadband infrastructure technology. The order is taken by Net Insight’s Dutch distribution partner Alphatron.
Dutch UPC has been using Net Insight’s media platform since September this year for video and data transport from UPC’s media play-out in Amsterdam to a satellite up-link station in Vienna. The new equipment will be used to connect a play-out station in London to the network for transport of multiple ASI video streams over an STM-1 (155 Mpbs) trunk connection between Amsterdam and London.

- Cable-TV operators can make significant savings by distributing their content via fiber instead of using costly satellite connections, says Tomas Duffy, CEO at Net Insight. For UPC to continue the build-out in today’s harsh market climate is a striking proof of the efficiency of our solutions.
