Stockholm, December 22, 2004 – Net Insight (SX: NETI B), a leading provider of video, voice and data networking equipment, announces that Rymdbolaget has bought equipment to be used for distribution of IPTV as well as for contribution and distribution of professional video (SDI and ASI). The equipment will be deployed during December 2004.
–Distribution of IPTV and video requires very high quality requirements in the transport network. We have tested Net Insight’s equipment during a period of time and we are impressed by how simple it is to achieve the constant high quality of service, says Baard Eilertssen, VP at Rymdbolaget. “This enables us to deliver IPTV and professional video services to both open networks (metro networks) and to telecom operators’ networks with the highest quality and at competitive prices”, he continues.
Rymdbolaget’s satellite station in Ågesta has the potential to bring down up to 4,700 TV channels from a large number of satellites. The location in Ågesta is now being completed with equipment that converts the received signals to IPTV in real time and distributing them to network operators that then distribute the IPTV signals to households all over Sweden. The network will also be used to carry contribution traffic from Swedish TV companies.
