GPS-independent Time Transfer

Our unique GPS-Independent Time Transfer function allows DTV and Mobile broadcasters using single frequency networks to synchronize transmitters and provide inter-studio sync without relying on GPS satellite signals or using any external devices. Time Transfer puts you in complete control of your time signals and completely eliminates concerns about signal jamming of the GPS-delivered Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) signal. Time Transfer functionality is built in to all Nimbra 360, 680 and 688 units and is enabled with the Time Transfer feature license.

Packaging:

Software modules for Nimbra 360/680. Enables Time Transfer interfaces on the Nimbra 360.

1 PPS

10 MHz

50 Ohm BNC, TTL levels (2.5 V),
positive pulse width of 1 us to 500 ms
50 Ohm BNC, Sine or Square of -3 to +20 dBm
RL > 15 dB @ 0.1 – 10 MHz

Time Transfer Output Interface (Nimbra 360):
1 PPS

10 MHz

50 Ohm BNC, TTL levels (2.5 V),
positive pulse, width 200 ms
Automatic squelch
10.000.000:1 relation between 10 MHz and PPS
50 Ohm BNC, >10 dBm sine
Automatic squelch

Fault Management:

Alarms

Time Transfer channel up/down
Tracking mode change
Squelch of output ports
Excessive time deviation

Performance:
Transfer accuracy

+/- 1.5 us for 10 nodes (uncalibrated)
+/- 3.0 us for 20 nodes (uncalibrated)
(when asymmetric delays are negligible,
according to two-way time transfer principles)
