Nimbra 340 & 340-HD Multiservice Access Switches

Nimbra 340 and Nimbra 340-HD are super-charged multiservice access and switching devices for demanding video and data applications. The compact 2RU solution and the wide selection of multiservice access interfaces makes the Nimbra 340 series ideally suited for use at the customer premises or in co-location POPs. The Nimbra 340 series combines the cost-effectiveness of fixed data and video ports with the flexibility of two general purpose slots for additional access and trunk interfaces.

There are two versions of the base unit:
  • Nimbra 340 - 2 + 2 fixed ASI ports and one fixed Gigabit Ethernet port
  • Nimbra 340-HD - 1 + 1 fixed HD-SDI ports and one fixed Gigabit Ethernet port

Broadcast applications benefit from the cost-effective built-in GbE and ASI ports while studio applications may add the optional SDI Access module for uncompressed video. Nimbra 340-HD allows broadcasters to distribute uncompressed high-definition video in a wide range of content services, from live HDTV broadcasting of sports and stadium events to pre-taped studio production and contribution.

  • Bandwidth management with maximum network utilization
  • Service granularity and switching down to 0.5 Mbps
  • Guaranteed QoS independent of network load
  • Comprehensive network rerouting and protection options
  • Unsurpassed Multicast support maintaining QoS in any network size or topology
  • Fully flexible networking of uncompressed HD
  • Supports both US and European versions of HD-SDI (1485 and 1483.5 Mbps)
  • Fully interoperable with other Nimbra network elements

The Nimbra 340 is typically placed at access sites, connecting to the larger Nimbra 600 series switches in central parts of the network. Such combined networks maintain all features and characteristics including QoS and automatic end-to-end routing.
