Nimbra 360








Nimbra 360 is the latest addition to the Nimbra 300 series of compact multiservice access and switching devices. With its built-in multirate SONET/SDH ports and Gigabit Ethernet access the product is 'ready to go' for demanding applications already in its basic configuration. In addition, up to 16 DVB-ASI ports or other combinations of multi-service access and trunk interfaces are available using the two slots for plug-in modules.

Typical applications range from studio production and contribution in broadcast and media networks to video and audio distribution in DTT, DVB-H, CATV and IPTV networks. Nimbra 360 may optionally be augmented by a unique Time Transfer functionality to enable GPS free transmitter synchronisation. This makes the Nimbra 360 especially suitable for distribution of Digital Terrestrial and Mobile Television in Single Frequency Networks.

The built-in trunk ports are configured as 4 x OC-3/STM-1 as default but may be changed to 4 x OC-12/STM-4 or 2 x OC-48/STM-16 using downloadable firmware options. These ports are provided with an additional switch matrix, raising the overall effective switching capacity from 5 to 7.5 Gbps and increasing the availability of through traffic.
