The 4xOC-3/STM-1 Trunk Module’s four ports make it possible to use the lost cost, compact Nimbra 340 in mesh and ring networks. The Module’s four Small Form-factor Pluggable ports (SFP) can be fitted with various optical modules for different media. It is an important component in multiservice networks that aggregate and distribute Ethernet, MPEG-2, and PDH traffic. This Module is often used with the OC-48/STM-16 and OC-3/STM-1 Trunk Modules in Nimbra 340, Nimbra One systems to create very flexible, cost-effective multi-service networks.
The 4 x OC-3/STM-1 Trunk Modules supports optional forward error correction (FEC)
capabilities to help ensure signal quality when routing signals over media that are prone to bit and burst errors like microwave links. The FEC works on the link level and protects all services.
