Time Transfer for GPS-free synchronization of Digital Terrestrial TV and Mobile TV distribution networks
Today’s society is becoming increasingly dependent on GPS timing for many critical everyday services, such as digital TV and radio distribution systemsand mobile networks. This paper describes a new solution for delivery of UTC time which is independent of the GPS. This solution is secure, cost-effective and can be built resiliently. Moreover it provides the accuracy needed (~1 µs) for synchronizing e.g. digital TV and radio systems or mobile networks, which has previously not been possible with traditional time transfer methods.
